don't let anyone tell you otherwise: art is work. drawing is work. i basically put in 6-8 hours or more of time drawing on my days off and i end up as tired if not more so than a busy night shift.
i should probably get up and stretch more often.
@extinct agreeing to do something creative for steady pay is such a deal with the devil...
@interneteh it's true. although i'd still do it.
right now i'm doing this for very unsteady pay, lol
@extinct yes! right. any kind
@extinct YES this. I've been meaning to draft a workout routine for myself too, exercise is so important.
@Azrael it is! even basic stretching exercises done sitting down can make a huge difference.
i just need to find an exercise routine for the mental exertion art requires lol
@extinct You probably have stretches down already - but I've found this a useful reference. I don't do all of them, but I find the Cat/Cow quite useful. I think there's a variation of the Cat/Cow where you also go into "Resting Child" (I can't remember when/the breathing for that) which is the same but with arms stretched out in front.
@sajan ooo! i do a lot of the ones in the first image -- at least something similar to a lot of them anyhow, but the second image has some interesting options if my back is giving me extra sass (i have mild scoliosis so this happens often).
@extinct Oh damn. Yeah, I'm just super inactive in general, I'll draw for work, then draw as a hobby. So my body is almost constantly achey at the moment. I definitely need to make a more serious habit of this stuff more, the most I do daily is roll my shoulders, mhah.
@sajan i'd wager most of us are a bit lax in our stretching and getting-up-and-moving-around-every-so-often regimen
@nev @extinct Yeah! I regret that I haven't actually checked out the artist's other stuff - in fact I feel like I might have found it on here? Also, regrettably, I only just looked up the artist's insta now
and they've written "please do not repost my pictures". I'm assuuuuuming that's more for their art and not their clearly tagged thing that's probably meant as a shareable resource?
A small, private instance geared toward artists and creatives.
