Time for a horror classic!
The Thing Show more
What if Alien but cold
I forgot this has a literal flying saucer spaceship
What a good dog! Beautiful creature
This is *excellently* shot, goddamn. It's not pretty at all but really effective
Kurt Russell's character is already so awful
"I'd like you to start an autopsy, right away."
And he just looks at him like "what the fuck dude, where, what do you think I should autopsy here"
This doctors delivery is so funny, in his thick southern accent "well what we have here appears to be a normal set of internal organs"
He just sounds so unfazed by the whole thing, just slightly puzzled
How is this dog such a good actor
The spider dog scene is terrifying
I fucking love the doctor so much, everything about his performance is so funny and great
The footage of the Norwegian scientists standing around the spaceship is so... eerie. It's so tragic and scary
80s scifi computers!!
I love 80s scifi computers because they're just so. Naive? Like the one in Alien where Dallas just asks "what's the story mother", or this one with its little animation of "cell intruder" taking over "dog cell"
Yes I know Alien is 1979 it still counts
If intruder organism reaches civilized areas...
Entire world population infected 27000 hours from first contact.
I love this shit so much
And the way the doctor shakes his head!!! Amazing
The scene with Bennings out in the snow is so unbelievably horrifying in so so many ways
The way he turns around with his dead eyes and then just screams in that inhuman way, my goodness
"I don't know who to trust."
God it's so sad 😭
I do wish MacReady was less of a movie protagonist
There's still 45 minutes left oh no
Alright let's continue
I feel like this has too many characters
The Thing, cut injury Show more
Goddamnit watching people cut their own thumbs is extremely difficult
This movie has so much cutting and I am not good at stomaching it
Hahaha oh wow this is much harder to watch than I thought
That final scene is so good
Alright! That was very very hard to watch but really really incredibly good too
This movie is absolutely incredibly well made and I respect it greatly but it also makes me feel like shit and I can't see myself rewatching it more than like, once a year
The only thing keeping this from being one of my absolute favorites is that there isn't much for me to personally latch onto. It's basically perfect but I don't have that connection with it
